Federal High Court orders immediate release of Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu 9

The Federal High Court Abuja has ordered the DSS to immediately release the director of the Indigenous People of Biafra and director of Biafran radio, Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Niyi Ademola at a hearing of a case filed against the Federal government by his lawyer this morning, said Kanu was being held unlawfully by DSS and should be freed immediately.

30 killed in Boko Haram attack on three villages in Borno

About 30 people were killed after Boko Haram members attacked Warwara, Mangari and Bura-Shika villages in Borno state over the weekend. Mustapha Karimbe, a member of the state vigilante group said many of the injured persons had machete cuts on them.

Nigerian woman who burnt a man's private parts with hot iron sentenced to 9yrs in prison in the UK

On December 14, Kenya Alozie, 31, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court , after being found guilty of GBH with intent. This followed an investigation by police in Greenwich. On 15 May, Alozie and the victim, a man in his thirties, were having sex at an address in Plumstead when she took a hot iron to burn his legs and genitals. She also used a broken bottle to attack him. The victim sustained a number of serious injuries including deep cuts and burns. He has since undergone a number of hospital treatments and surgery.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu loses mother

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has announced the death of his mother, Mrs. Bessie Ikpeazu (Nee Nwagwu). She died after a brief illness in the early hours of Sunday, November 29 at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH),  Enugu. She was 87. Madam Bessie was a career nurse and midwife.

The Lagos state government has concluded plans to relocate the Petroleum Tankers farm in Apapa to the Tradefair complex along the Badagry expressway. The move is geared towards finding a lasting solution to the persistent traffic gridlock at Apapa caused mainly by indiscriminate parking of trucks.

Dasuki lists ex-governors, PDP chiefs, in $2.1bn deals

According to a report by The Nation, former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has started opening up about the controversial $2.1 billion arms deal. A source at EFCC who spoke with the newspaper stated that Dasuki decided to open up after a former Director of Finance in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Shaibu Salisu who was recently arrested in connection with the probe, made some statements implicating him, Dasuki, in the deal.

57 year old man dies onboard an Arik Air flight

According to multiple reports, a 57 year old man identified as Albert Nnadi died on-board an Arik Air Flight that was heading to Lagos from Owerri yesterday December 2nd. The man was on his way to Lagos for medical attention when he was found dead as the passengers were disembarking from the plane after landing in Lagos. Arik Air confirmed the incident happened and said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Mortuary.

Okonjo-Iweala tells Buhari to Call reckless Gov. Oshiomole to order

Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has called on the Buhari-led government to caution Edo state governor Adams Oshiomole over his remarks about her person. Okonjo-Iweala said this while reacting to Oshiomole's interview with Leadership newspapers published today where he said the former Minister ought to be prosecuted in connection with the $2.1 billion arms deal probe. Okonjo-Iweala's reaction which is contained in a statement signed by her media aide, Paul Nwabuiwku after the cut..

Dismissed police officer, 1 other arrested for vandalizing man-hole (photo)

In a renewed effort to rid Lagos State  of criminals, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad yesterday arrested a dismissed police officer  and  one other person for  vanfalizing and stealing man - hole cover. The suspect, Earnest Young (30),, who co incidentally is a son of a retired Deputy Superintendentbof Police was arrested  with his accomplice, Rasheed Tiamiyu, (20), on Eko Bridge around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

An Igbosere Magistrate’s Court judge, Magistrate O. A Ogunbowale of Lagos State remanded 45-year-old security man, Musa Mohammed in prison for allegedly raping a 15-year-old boy. Musa is facing a two -count charge of assault and rape.

NASS approves N575bn supplementary budget

Yesterday,The chambers of the National Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives,  passed a  total sum of N574,532,726,857 as supplementary budget for President Muhammadu Buhari for additional Recurrent (Non- Debt) Expenditure for the year ending on December 31, 2015 to be withdrawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federation.

Teen allergic to Wi-Fi commits suicide

The mother of a teen who committed suicide after suffering from what she calls a rare allergy to Wi-Fi is accusing her daughter’s school of failing to protect her. Jenny Fry, 15, was found hanging from a tree near her home in the U.K. last June. Her story is now coming to light because of a legal investigation into the cause of Jenny’s death. Her mother, Debra Fry, told the Mirror that Jenny suffered from blinding headaches, fatigue, concentration problems, and bladder issues that she says were caused by electro-hypersensitivity syndrome (EHS), a condition in which electromagnetic radiation emitted from wireless technology, including Wi-Fi, cellphones, and cell towers, causes debilitating physical symptoms.

Boko Haram suicide bombers kill 9 in Cameroun

9 people including three suicide bombers have been confirmed dead after the suicide bombers attacked Platari and Walasa quarters of Waza in Far North Cameroun yesterday night. Two of the suicide bombers detonated their bombs which killed them and 6 others while the third suicide bomber was killed before he could detonate his bomb.
