Lagos state govt cancels tomorrow's environmental sanitation due to Jamb examination

The monthly environmental sanitation in Lagos tomorrow has been cancelled by the Lagos state government  due to the Jamb Examination which is to hold tomorrow Saturday February 27th.

Senate to Probe DSTV

The Senate has instituted a probe into the activities of DSTV owned by the South African based Multichoice Africa, in Nigeria. At the plenary session yesterday February 24th, the Senators expressed dissatisfaction over the services of the company when Senator Isah Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central) sponsored a motion tagged, " Unwholesome practices of Multichoice Nigeria (DSTV). Misau while moving the motion, accused Multichoice of dominating the Nigerian satellite television market, thereby enabling it to engage in negative and unhealthy practices amongst which are arbitrary increase in subscription charges, refusal to adopt pay 'as-you-use' model applicable in other countries, poor service delivery and absence of toll free lines for customers complaints .

Rivers State Governor orders Rivers state indigenes on scholarship abroad to come back to Nigeria to complete their studies

The governor of Rivers state , Nyesom Wike, has asked all indigenes of the state who are on scholarship abroad to return to Nigeria to continue their scholarship programmes in any University in the country as the state is currently facing financial crisis and can't continue to sponsor them. This directive is contained in a letter sent out to the students early this month. The affected students are those that are not in final year as all final year students will be allowed to complete their programmes at their various universities.  Read copies of the letter after the cut...

This is the official reaction to Blackface's song stealing allegation from 2face Idibia's camp. This is from his manager, Efe Omorogbe. Read below... When my attention was drawn to Blackface's twitter rant about the "theft" of his songs by his ex-band mate 2Baba, my initial reaction was to ignore what I perceived as an obvious marketing gimmick for his new single. The reaction from a vast majority of people on social media who read about the allegations was evidence that the ploy had backfired.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and top businessmen from the South West including Mike Adenuga, Subomi Balogun, Rasaq Okoya and others joined Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, in welcoming President Buhari to Ogun state yesterday. Buhari was in the state to celebrate its 40th anniversary and also commission some projects. He also visited the Awujale of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona.  See more photos below...

EFCC ransacks ex Vice President, Sambo’s Abuja office, seize $50,000

On Saturday January 30th, the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC , entered the Abuja office of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, ransacked it for documents and also seized $50,000. According to a report by The Nation , the anti-graft agency may have ransacked his office over an alleged N20 million monthly subvention he received from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) while he was Vice President.

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar launched the Technology Enhanced Learning for All (TELA) yesterday, February 1 in Yola, Adamawa State. TELA is an American University of Nigeria project sponsored by USAID that will teach basic literacy and numeracy to vulnerable children. According to the former VP who spent quality time with children in his community, 20,000 IDP children will benefit from the project. See More photos below.....

Buhari pledges increased budgetary allocation to issues relating to Women Affairs

Days after the wife of APC National chieftain, Senator Olufemi Tinubu challenged the 2016 budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Women Affairs and accused the present government of using and dumping women after the election, President Buhari has pledged that his administration will continue to guarantee the economic rights of women by increasing budgetary allocation to projects by Federal Government ministries, agencies and departments specifically targeted at improving the lives of women.
